Troubleshooting Microphone and Audio Issues

Poor audio quality is the most common cause of reduced transcription accuracy. Follow these steps to diagnose and resolve audio issues.

Check browser or app permissions

Web app: Click the lock icon in your browser's address bar and confirm that microphone access is set to Allow for the Scriberapp domain.

Mobile app (iOS): Go to Settings > Scriberapp > Microphone and ensure it is enabled.

Mobile app (Android): Go to Settings > Apps > Scriberapp > Permissions and enable Microphone.

Test your microphone

  1. In Scriberapp, go to Settings > Audio > Microphone Test.
  2. Speak a few sentences and watch the audio level meter.
  3. The meter should reach at least 60% during normal speech. If it stays flat, the microphone is not being detected.

Switch audio input device

If you have multiple microphones (laptop built-in, headset, USB mic), select the correct one under Settings > Audio > Input Device.

Reduce background noise

  • Close doors to reduce hallway noise.
  • Use a directional or noise-cancelling microphone in busy clinic environments.
  • Avoid placing the device near HVAC vents or fans.

Still not working?

Collect the diagnostic log (Settings > Audio > Download Log) and share it with our support team. Include the device model, operating system version, and a brief description of the issue.
